Dormont

The Dormont estate has existed since 1552 when WIlliam Carruthers received a charter for it from his father, John, the 5th laird of Holmains.  Some Carruthers had lived on that land since the 1300's, when King Robert the Bruce granted that land to the Carruthers of Mouswald.

Dormont is a yellow pinned estate on the right of the map at a bend in the Annan River.  It has a very interesting history.  Rather than repeat it here, I will refer you to the excellent article on Dormont from the Clan Carruthers Society - International.  Additionally, click on the link below to get the descendants from the start of the Dormont line of the family.
